Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Your journey begins at 7:00 AM when your guide collects you from your hotel. Travel through the agricultural and mining regions of the Highveld, ascending to the Mpumalanga escarpment. Along the Panorama Route, explore South Africa’s most breathtaking landmarks, including God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the Three Rondavels viewpoint overlooking the Blyde River Canyon.

The Panorama Route, winding through the rugged northern Drakensberg mountains, marks the dramatic transition between the inland plateau and the Lowveld plains nearly 1,000 meters below. This scenic drive is one of South Africa’s most spectacular travel experiences.

By late afternoon, arrive at your hotel perched on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment, offering panoramic views of the Lowveld plains below. Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 2

After an early breakfast at Angels View, visit the Graskop Gorge Lift, where you descend into an Afromontane forest. Explore 600 meters of elevated walkways, immersing yourself in the region’s rich biodiversity. Interactive displays along the path highlight this ecosystem’s unique flora and fauna.

Next, continue toward Kruger National Park, entering through the nearest gate for a morning game drive. Spot Africa’s iconic wildlife as you make your way to Lukimbi Safari Lodge, where you’ll arrive in time for lunch.

Lukimbi Safari Lodge is on a private concession within Kruger National Park, ensuring exclusive game-viewing opportunities. Later this afternoon, embark on your first open-vehicle safari guided by expert rangers. As dusk falls, enjoy sundowners deep in the bush, before continuing the drive with spotlights to track nocturnal wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner in the restaurant or, if weather permits, around a crackling fire in the boma.

Day 3

Rise before dawn for another exciting day in the African bush. Start with a steaming cup of coffee and homemade rusks before setting off on a morning game drive in Big Five territory. Your expert ranger will lead you through the wilderness, where you may encounter lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo. Breakfast awaits upon your return to the lodge.

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy—opt for a guided bush walk with your ranger, relax in your luxurious suite, or unwind by the pool. Lunch is served on the deck, overlooking the stunning bushveld scenery.

After an afternoon siesta, meet for afternoon tea before heading out on another late afternoon/evening safari. Enjoy sundowners deep in the bush as the sun sets, followed by an exciting night drive using spotlights to track nocturnal animals. End the day with a delicious dinner at the lodge or under the stars by the fire.

Day 4

Same itinerary as day 3.

Day 5

Wake before dawn for your final open-vehicle game drive, setting off as the bush comes to life. Enjoy the early morning light, a prime time for predator sightings. With off-road driving permitted, your ranger will take you closer to the Big Five, ensuring intimate wildlife encounters while respecting their space.

After breakfast, depart from Lukimbi Safari Lodge for your transfer back to Johannesburg, where a light lunch is en route. Drop-off is available at your preferred location.

This tour can begin in Cape Town with a flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) in Nelspruit. An overnight stay in Nelspruit is required before the tour starts. Flights and accommodation in Nelspruit are not included — please enquire for details.
