3-Day 5-Star Victoria Falls Tour (Zambian Side)

* We recommend visiting Victoria Falls between the months of May and October. Outside this period water levels can be very low (November -mid-December its definitely best to go to the Zimbabwe side) or extremely high (mid-January to end of April)  and besides weather being very hot and humid, the spray obliterates the view at some viewpoints). The beautiful African rainstorms do bring some cooling relief at this time, however.

Your Victoria Falls destination is the Livingstone Falls Resort in Livingstone, Zambia, right on the eastern cataract itself, and not upstream on the Zambezi River. You could not have chosen a better location for your vacation here. So, you have the freedom to walk, safely, to Victoria Falls as often as you like, without the inconvenience and costs associated with having to be transferred there. You will go to bed to the mesmerizing sound of water plunging into the mighty Zambezi River, and the hissing noise of huge clouds of spray flung into the African sky – experiences that you will recall for the rest of your life.

Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

You will be met at Livingstone airport on the Zambian side of the falls by Mmilo Tours representative who will take you to your hotel. ( Flights from Johannesburg/Cape Town/ Elsewhere not included but can be arranged for you) After you have checked in and freshened up. Our local guide will take you for your first guided tour of Falls. This will familiarise you with your surroundings and location.

Your stay in Livingstone will be at the Royal Livingstone, the premier 5-star Hotel at the Falls.

The RL is right on the Zambezi River banks just above the falls and with wonderful views of the islands in the river and the Elephants swimming out to the islands and hippos in great numbers.

Your meal plan included in this tour is bed and breakfast to give you the freedom to use the local restaurants in the evening

Day 2

Perhaps you might like to take a self-guided walk down to the Falls before breakfast, you know the way now. The falls do take on different appearances with the various light conditions during the day, the famous falls rainbow appearing with different angles of the sun, and the mist and when backlit in the morning creates a softer more atmospheric view.

After breakfast, we suggest going for the white-water rafting expedition (optional extra).

This is an experience you will remember forever. The water conditions “improve” that is the turbulence of the rapids increases as the water level drops. The raft rider guides are very experienced and know how to get you through this unscathed but exhilarated. The rafting is in the Batoka Gorge beneath its towering walls below the falls. It is truly an impressive sight. Lunch is served by the rafting staff halfway.

Alternative activities available are to take a helicopter or microlight flip over the falls, a visit to the Devil’s Pool right at the edge of the tumbling torrents of the falls. The Devils Pools is accessible only when the river reaches lower levels usually in September to November.

Later this evening go for the beautiful Zambezi River sunset cruise “Captain’s Cabin” passing islands in the river and along the shore. You will often view elephants and hippos swimming to and from the islands and occasional antelope on the river’s edge. This cruise includes selected drinks as well as light snacks and canapés

Day 3

After an early breakfast; you will go for one last tour of the falls on the Zimbabwe side to get a different view of them afforded there which is a more fuller view of the entire spread of the falls. Your driver will then meet you in the lobby area of the Royal Livingstone at 11:00 am (or earlier if needed) for your transfer back to the airport.
