Night drive and Morning Bush Walk in the vicinity of the Crocodile River. A perfect addition to a Kruger Safari. Lodges inside the Kruger do not provide night drives as the drivers and guests have to be back at the lodge by sunset. We have designed this add on to any Kruger Safari to ensure that guests get the most out of their Kruger wildlife experience by adding a night drive as well as a morning bush walk. This is all possible by staying at a lodge just on the outskirts of the Kruger National Park on the banks of the Crocodile River.

The Crocodile River is the focal point of this tour. It forms the southern border of the Kruger National Park; aptly named for the crocodiles that sun themselves on the sandbanks and hippos that wallow close by. To its banks come all the animals of the Kruger National Park to drink and enjoy the cool shade of the tall trees. Lodges near the river have the privilege of views of the Kruger National Park across the river often better than the private lodges inside the Kruger.

There is an age limit for the Bushwalk; 12 – 65 years of age. A fitness Certificate must be provided by a doctor if the participant is over the age of 65.

Walking shoes or boots are required. We recommend wearing comfortable walking clothes, Neutral colours are preferred; Khaki, Grey, Brown, etc.

Prices:

2024 Low Season: – 9 January 2024 – 24 March 2024  and 8 April 2024 to 30 November 2024 – ZAR8 540.00 per person sharing, ZAR14 820.00 for a solo traveller.

2024 High Season: 25 March 2024 to 7 April 2024 – ZAR8 775.00 per person sharing, ZAR15 290 .00 for a solo traveller.

Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

After your morning activity and breakfast at your Kruger based hotel/lodge, you will be collected by one of our drivers at 11:00am and transferred to across the Crocodile River and out of the Kruger Nationa Park to Pestana Kruger Lodge.

Lunch is available at your own cost from the restaurant. It is also safe to take a stroll across the Crocodile River Bridge to stretch your legs.

You will have to have an early dinner tonight as your departure for the Night Drive is at 18:45. Please remember to bring along a jacket or windbreaker as the wind generated by the game drive vehicle can be chilly especially at night.

You will return to the lodge late in the night, so straight to bed to get up early the next morning for your bush walk.

Day 2

Arise early at dawn this morning and go for a safari bush walk with an armed park ranger. A walk in the bush gives an entirely different perspective to driving.

This is a special time of day as the Kruger awakens and comes to life. By now you should have heard the iconic Fish Eagles cry, common along the river, and learned to recognize it. Hopefully, there will be a matriarchal herd of mother elephants and babies or a savage but necessary lion kills, perhaps a majestic bull elephant, and a herd of stern-looking African buffalo. There are thrilling encounters around every corner!

You will return to the lodge for breakfast. Our driver will collect you at checkout time (11:00am) and transfer you as discussed with your Kruger Safari at either Nelspruit Airport (MQP) or Johannesburg.

Day 3

Included in Price:

  • 1 Nights 4 Star accommodation next to the Crocodile River in a Deluxe Room at Pestana Kruger Lodge
  • All meals mentioned in the itinerary, (Dinner and Breakfast)
  • Transfer from your Kruger based lodge to Pestana Lodge.
  • Night drive in the Kruger National Park, as well as transfer to the gate.
  • Morning bush walk.

  • All cost of a personal nature, e.g. laundry, telephones excluded,

Accommodation Note: All the hotels and lodges are as reflected in this itinerary, but if for reasons beyond the control of Mmilo Tours this is not possible, they will be replaced with establishments of the same star grading.
