Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

You will be required to get to Johannesburg Airport by 8.00am to catch the flight to Livingstone Zambia  departing at 11.00am. Let us know if we can assist with getting to the airport as this is not included.

You will be met after arrival at Livingstone airport at 13.25pm on the Zambian side of the falls by Mmilo Tours representative who will take you to your hotel, the Royal Livingstone. After you have checked in and freshened up our local guide will take you for your first guided tour of Falls. This will familiarise you with your surroundings and location.

Your stay in Livingstone will be at the Royal Livingstone, the premier 5-star Hotel of both sides of the Falls. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect to enjoy in a top end hotel.

It is in a beautiful and most privileged location right on the Zambezi River banks just above the falls and with wonderful views of the islands in the river and the Elephants swimming out to the islands and hippos in great numbers. It is a short walk to the “Knife Edge”one of the main viewpoints of the falls on the Zambian side. The Zambian side of the Falls is best for its close up views of the Falls as opposed to Zimbabwe where the best panoramic views are afforded.

Devils pool

Your stay at the Royal Livingstone is bed and breakfast to give you the freedom to go to dinner at other interesting venues later in your stay which are included on your other nights. But so you can rest and relax after your first busy day travelling we recommend you dine at the hotel ( at your own cost). However if you prefer please ask the concierge about dining venues in Livingstone Town or eslsewhere on the banks of the river and they will arrange it for you ( not included).

Accommodation the Royal Livingstone, Bed and Breakfast. Dinner not included today.

Day 2

Perhaps you might like to take a self-guided walk down to the Falls before breakfast, you know the way now. This would be excellent gentle morning exersise! ( optional activity) The falls do take on different appearances with the various light conditions during the day, the famous falls rainbow appearing with different angles of the sun, and the mist and when backlit in the morning creates a softer more atmospheric view.

After breakfast ( exact time will be communicated to you by your guide of yesterday) your guide will collect you for a trip to the middle of the Zambezi River to visit Livingstone Island. Its a great boat trip as you zip between the smaller islands to dock there and disembark.Your guide will take you for a pleasant stroll to various viewpoints and before departing the island you will have lunch there. The most famous viewpoint on the island is called Devil’s Pool. Usually this is only accessible from September to November. You may opt to visit this for an extra fee. If you do foresee doing this please bring along swimming trunks or costume. Depending on the water level in the river you may have a short swim to get to it. At other times you can just walk in water up to your knees or waist to get to the cliff edge.  Whatever the situation the Zambian guides take great care of you so you get to the very edge of the Falls and back safely. Whatever you decide the trip to Livingstone Island is a lovely experience .

But if you would prefer some other optional activity here are other suggestions

  • White-water rafting expedition (optional extra fee applies).

This is an experience you will remember forever. The water conditions “improve” that is the turbulence of the rapids increases as the water level drops. The raft rider guides are very experienced and know how to get you through this unscathed but exhilarated. The rafting is in the Batoka Gorge beneath its towering walls below the falls. It is truly an impressive sight. Lunch is served by the rafting staff halfway.

  • A helicopter or microlight flip over the falls and surrounding reserve.

This is nicknamed “The Flight of Angels”. You may opt for 15 minute or 30 minute flights. A more leisurely experience than the rafting but the grandeur of the view across the entire spread of the ragged gorges and ravines with their tumbling torrents  is also an unforgettable experience.

Latr this evening included in your package is the Livingstone Dinner Express.

Climb aboard a luxurious steam train and journey to Victoria Falls Bridge where you will enjoy the sunset before delighting in a delicious 5 course meal. This acitivity is not recommended for children under 12.

Please note there is a smart casual dress code for this activity.

Accommodation the Royal Livingstone, Bed and Breakfast. Lunch on Livingstone Island , Dinner on the Livingstone Falls Express Train.

Day 3

After breakfast today you will be taken for a trip across the river and the border to the Zimbabwean side of the falls and the town of Victoria Falls around them. Your guide will take you along the side of the gorge which gives you an unequalled panoramic view of the widest spread of the falls. The spray from the falls has created a little “Garden of Eden”permanently watered by them and supporting small antelope and warthogs that wander undisturbed by your presence grazing and rooting for fodder. Beautiful rainbows are formed in the spray toand the music of the tumbling cataracts accompanies accompanies this idyllic scene.

You shall have lunch at a restaurant overlooking the falls. You can then stroll around the the town of Victoria falls for an hour or two. Unlike Livingstone which is one of Zambia’s main business towns and a regional capital Victoria Falls has a holiday atmosphere and has a huge craft market and many shops with interesting souvenirs. You will see people from all nations in the world strolling in its small streets. However you may opt to go back to the Royal Livingstone for a short rest instead.

Later this evening your guide will meet you again to go for the beautiful Zambezi River Sunset dinner cruise  passing islands in the river and along the shore. You will often view elephants and hippos swimming to and from the islands and occasional antelope on the river’s edge while you dine. This cruise includes selected drinks and a 5 course gourmet dinner.

Then back to the Zambian side and the Royal Livingstone Hotel.

Day 4
