With 6 game drives in an open safari vehicle with ample opportunity to see the Big 5 and all the iconic creatures of Africa up close, a 3-night stay next to the Crocodile River, with amazing views of animals and the river from your accommodation. There is also the option of adding a daring bush walk with an armed ranger ( Pestana Lodge’s location facilitates this exceptional experience, not generally available at lodges). Transfers to and from Johannesburg by scenic road route are also included. This package is also adaptable to a fly-in option from/to Cape Town or Johannesburg to the nearby local airport, which is also available to save you time if needed. Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Depart from the coach terminal at Johannesburg International Airport at 07h00 on a shared minicoach to the city of Nelspruit, where you will be met and transferred to Pestana Kruger Lodge, a journey of 4-5 hours on a scenic route. Check into your spacious room featuring an en-suite bathroom and views of the lodges extensive grounds. Relax and take in the view of the Kruger National Park, from the viewing dec a short walk away, where you may spot wildlife in the Crocodile River or on its banks. Perhaps have lunch (optional at own cost) in the restaurant, dip in the pool, or explore the beautiful subtropical ,well-maintained garden.

Later this afternoon,  you will go to reception area to be collected for your sunset safari drive into the Kruger National Park, returning later in the evening to have dinner at the lodge.

Enjoy this wild place and connect with nature around you as you relax under the African stars on the lodge’s open deck. Have a late-evening swim or buy a drink at the bar. Use the lodges Wi-Fi to you can share your first pictures and messages

Day 2

This morning, you’ll arise at dawn and go for your first sunrise safari with the park ranger. This is a special time of day as the Kruger awakens and comes to life.  Hopefully, there will be a matriarchal herd of elephants with babies or a savage but necessary lion kill, perhaps a majestic giraffe or a herd of stern-looking African buffalo. There are thrilling encounters around every corner!

Afterwards, return to the lodge for breakfast and spend the middle of the day at leisure. Relax at the pool or spend time enjoying the views from your room from the deck where lunch can be ordered if you require. The views from the deck change constantly as the animals and birds of Kruger get on with their day.

Later this afternoon, you will be collected for your late-afternoon/sunset open-vehicle safari, and after your game drive, you will return to Pestana Kruger Lodge for dinner.

Day 3

This morning, you’ll arise at dawn and go for your sunrise safari with the park ranger again at this special time of day as the Kruger awakens and comes to life. By now, you should have heard the iconic fish eagles cry, common along the river, perhaps a bold mother Rhino with calf returning your gaze warily, the scream and yap of Hyenas, the strange neigh of the zebras and the roar of the king, the Lion!

Afterwards, return to the lodge for breakfast oncemore to spend the middle of the day at leisure. Relax at the pool or spend time enjoying the views of activity in the kruger along the river. You can also take a stroll out of the lodge to the high the bridge over the river affording aerial views of hippos and crocodiles.

Later this afternoon, you will be collected for your late-afternoon/sunset open-vehicle safari, and after your final sunset game drive, you will return to Pestana Kruger Lodge for dinner.

Day 4

Depart for your last safari drive at dawn in the KNP. Please note that you can replace any of your morning game drives on this safari with safari walks conducted by an armed game ranger.  You must let us know at least a two weeks before your trip and it depends on availability of the weapons trained guide who accompanies you and there is an extra charge. A walk in the bush gives an entirely different perspective than driving and viewing the bush from a raised level. This is a more grounded experience!

After breakfast at the lodge, you will be collected by our driver and start your journey back to Johannesburg. Arrival back in Johannesburg is between 17h30 and 18h00.

But if you want to go on to Cape Town and avoid returning to Johannesburg , there is a convenient flight leaving at lunchtime every day from a local airport, and we can drop you there (in which case we will refund or discount the now unused shuttle fare back to Johannesburg).

If you’re short on time, we can fly you in and out of a local airport at a surprisingly low additional cost and you will have extra relax time at this wonderful location.  We can book these flights for you or direct as to which flight is best so you can do it yourself.

  • 3 Dawn and 3 Sunset game drives in open sided safari vehicle in the southern Kruger National Park.

Exclusions:

  • Proprietary drinks, alcoholic or non alcoholic ( pay for on serving)
  • Lunches are not included but can be ordered and paid for at the reataurant as this is the meal plan at Pestana for all.
