Our guide will meet and greet you at OR Tambo International Arrivals of your journey from St Helena. (Details still to be supplied)
Our guide will collect you at the Maslow Times Square Pretoria at 8.00am.
The first stop will be at about 9.00 am at the indigenous flower and Aloe Garden in Hartebeespoort our most scenic area.
After a short sojourn there you will depart for the Lesedi Cultural Village where you will be entertained and informed about South Africa’s widely diverse ethnic groups, languages, and culture finishing with an African Lunch Banquet. This is a very energetic exposition and you are expected to be moved by the rhythms and sounds.
The next stop will be the Wonder Cave. The area of the Cradle of Humankind is honeycombed with very ancient dolomite caves containing beautiful stalagmites and stalactite and fossils of long-extinct creatures including some of our ancient relatives.
Then back to Pretoria.
Your guide will collect you at 7.00 am from The Maslow and take you to the Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Centre. There is much to see here. Firstly it is a Sunday and on this day they have the Cheetah Run. One or two Cheetahs will show you their paces and what speedsters they are! You will then be taken on a tour of the centre and its projects. The main ones are the Cheetah and African Wild Dog preservation programmes but there are others involving smaller creatures such as vultures, hyenas, servals, caracals and more.
From here depart a destination in the Magaliesberg Mountains for a series of thrilling canopy slides and a light lunch.
On your return to Pretoria, you will stop off at the Magaliesberg Cable Car which will take you to one of the highest points in the Mountains with amazing views of the whole region
This morning, your day of departure from South Africa our guide will first take you to some more wonderful sights starting with the Origins Centre at the University of Witwatersrand showing the amazing discoveries made in the Cradle of Humankind and at other sites in South Africa of mankind’s earlier relatives.
From here you will go to our Constitutional Court Precinct where you will learn and see a lot about our more recent history up to the present day. It is on the site of an old Gaol where both Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi were imprisoned much of this has been preserved. There is also the old 19th-century women’s gaol on the site. Nowadays our Constitutional Court is located here and in that building many works of art expressing ideas of freedom and democracy can be seen and the architecture of the Court building evokes the most liberal of all African Constitutions which was composed after the old Apartheid system gave way to a more modern and human societal viewpoint.
After a light lunch you will be taken to OR Tambo Airport and delivered there at the drop off point within easy walking distance of the check in for your flight.
