Overview
The itinerary for this tour is intended to be added to a Kruger Park and a Panorama Route tour preferably also booked with us. But it can also start from Johannesburg provided an early start (6:00 am or earlier is best). If leaving Johannesburg later than 6:00 am, then Blyde River Canyon and/or Bourke’s Luck Potholes will have to be bypassed. Extra charges may apply if leaving from Johannesburg.
The highlight of the tour is the visit to Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre. Besides being in an area of great natural beauty Moholoholo’s raison d’etre is to restore animals and birds injured by mankind’s activities to their health so they can be restored to the wild. Unfortunately, this happens often and the range of animals and creatures at the centre is always wide and interesting. The knowledge that can be imparted during close encounters with these animals in temporary captivity by one of the knowledgeable rangers tasked with their care is very great and makes an excellent introduction to the region of Kruger Park which is very close by.
But also included in this trip is a boat ride up the Blyde River beneath the towering cliffs of the Blyde River Canyon viewing it from the bottom.
