Hamilton’s Lodge is named after the first warden of The Kruger National Park, Sir James Stevenson Hamilton. We are located on Riverside Farm in the heart of the agricultural hub of Mpumalanga just 500m from Malelane Kruger Gate, 45km from the borders of both Mozambique and Swaziland.
A family-owned and run Lodge and Restaurant with a relaxed and casual atmosphere, where guests come to unwind and breathe in the fresh bushveld air in our rustic surroundings enjoying comfortable, modern and spacious rooms.
Catering for families with children, groups of friends, businessmen or travellers passing through, Hamiltons is perfectly situated to explore the diverse surrounding attractions.
Accommodation
Hamiltons Lodge has 11 spacious en-suite rooms and one Family unit. With high ceilings, the rooms are tastefully furnished, decorated in soft colours with large sliding doors providing access to both the garden and swimming pool.
Double, Twin and Triple rooms are available – all have air conditioning, TV with DSTV, Safe, Coffee Machine, tea kettle, mini bar, and hairdryer.
Breakfast is served at the Lodge from 07h00 – 10h30
Lunch and Dinner is served at our fully licensed Ala Carte Restaurant 11h00 – 22h00

Hamiltons Restaurant
The Ala Carte Restaurant is open daily from 11h00 -22h00. Comfortably nestled in lush gardens, we provide both an indoor dining area as well as an outdoor area. The Restaurant makes almost everything on the menu in-house. We have found a few amazing, locally-sourced specialty items, like Glyn’s Marula Jelly and her Jelly Baby Tomato Relish, as well as Jo’s divine Blondies, which complement our menu. We strive to use only the freshest, local ingredients whenever possible and are proud to support local agriculture and serve locally grown and made foods from our friends. South Africa is known the world over for its excellent wines and we have attempted to give our patrons a comprehensive combination of these wines and hope our menu and wine options are as diverse as our guests themselves.
Shopping
Mvubu Craft and Art Gallery that exhibits local art and crafts; and Pod supplies authentic African homeware and lifestyle items sourced from the area. Both shops are located in the gardens adjacent to the Restaurant.
Health and Fitness
Gym
We have a fully equipped gym located just 1km from us. Malelane Fitness and Squash visitors have full use of the facilities, including fitness classes, aerobics and spinning classes, for just R40.00 per person per day (price subject to change without prior notice).
Mountain Biking
The area surrounding Malelane abounds with cycle trails that cover all types of terrain- from coastal and inland semi-desert to bushveld and mountains. A number of these trails start and finish at Hamiltons. Malelane is home to our very own Springbok Mountain Bike Cyclist, Dirk Lourens, and he is constantly constructing new trails and improving our existing mountain-biking trails. The area offers something for everyone.
