Cape Town Tour FAQs

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

Cape Town is at its best in summer (Dec–Feb), with warm weather, lively beaches, outdoor dining, and perfect conditions for hiking Table Mountain. However, the rest of the year remains mild by colder countries’ standards.

Where will we stay on this Cape Town tour?

Expect luxurious accommodation at the Queen Victoria Hotel. Let the elegant suites envelop you, and the personalised service creates an unforgettable stay. This 5-star boutique hotel offers breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the harbour.

Why visit Cape Town?

Cape Town offers stunning landscapes, a rich history, diverse cultures, and world-class wine and cuisine. From the majestic Table Mountain to the rugged beauty of Cape Point, the city is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The vibrant cultural scene features African, European, and Asian influences. This is everywhere in its colourful neighbourhoods, historic landmarks, and thriving arts scene.

Explore iconic attractions like Robben Island, the V&A Waterfront, and Bo-Kaap while indulging in award-winning wines from Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

What should I pack for the trip?

Pack comfortable walking shoes for exploring the city and hiking trails, light clothing for warm days, and a jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. Sun protection is essential — bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. A swimsuit is necessary for beach days and outdoor adventures. A camera or smartphone will help capture Cape Town’s breathtaking landscapes. If you visit in winter (June–August), include a rain jacket and waterproof shoes for rain. Don’t forget a small backpack for day trips, a universal power adapter, and any personal medications or travel documents you may need.

What are the must-see attractions in Cape Town?

Cape Town’s must-see attractions include the breathtaking Table Mountain, where a rotating cableway offers panoramic city views; the dramatic Cape of Good Hope & Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet; and the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive & Hout Bay, with a boat trip to Seal Island to see Cape Fur Seals. Explore the historic Castle of Good Hope & Slave Lodge, walk among African Penguins at Boulders Beach, and indulge in world-class wine tasting in the Cape Winelands, visiting top estates in Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek.

What kind of food can I expect in Cape Town?

Expect fresh seafood, including kingklip, snoek, oysters, and calamari, expertly prepared with local flavours. Savour the unique spices of Cape Malay cuisine, featuring aromatic curries, boboties, and samoosas. Experience an authentic South African braai (BBQ) with grilled meats paired with traditional sides like pap and chakalaka. Indulge in gourmet dining at award-winning restaurants, offering a fusion of international and local flavours. Enjoy world-class wine and cheese pairings in the Cape Winelands with handcrafted cheeses, biltong, and artisanal chocolates. Don’t miss trying koeksisters (a sweet, syrupy pastry), malva pudding (a decadent dessert), and rooibos tea, a South African favourite.

Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

You will be met by a Mmilo Tours representative at the Cape Town International Airport or a venue of your choosing, who will take you to the Queen Victoria Hotel.

Day 2

Your unforgettable tour starts in the morning after a luxury breakfast. We will guide you around the central city area with visits to the Castle of Good Hope and The Slave Lodge. If you’re a history lover, you will enjoy learning about Cape Town and the Dutch mercantile empire of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Finally, you will journey to the top of Table Mountain. A revolving cable car will take you to the top, almost 4000 feet high, where you can truly bask in the magnificent views of the city, the bay, and the countryside. The area is home to indigenous fauna and flora, providing photographers with breathtaking shots.

If the mountain is wearing its “tablecloth” of clouds or there are high winds, the cableway closes. We will move this activity to one of your other days in Cape Town. Instead, we will incorporate a trip to one of the other excellent scenic areas in Cape Town, such as the Kirstenbosch Gardens, one of the world’s most beautiful botanical gardens set on the mountain’s eastern slopes.

Day 3

Day three will take you on a tour of the Cape Peninsula, with stunning views of the sea and mountains. Your tour guide will collect you from your hotel in the morning and take you to the furthest point south on the peninsula, the Cape of Good Hope. The centrepiece is Cape Point, the mythical meeting place of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

From there, the Cape Point Nature Reserve and its wildlife will envelop you. Ride the Flying Dutchman Funicular up to the old lighthouse for panoramic views of the rugged coastline where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.

Next, embark on a scenic drive along Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most stunning coastal roads, with dramatic cliffs and ocean vistas. At its foot lies the picturesque fishing harbour of Hout Bay, where you can stroll along the waterfront before taking a boat trip to Seal Island, home to a thriving colony of Cape Fur Seals.

On your way back, you will go through Simonstown, a picturesque naval port where the South African navy waits. Finally, it’s off to Boulders Beach with its famous African Penguins. Return to Cape Town for the evening at your leisure.

Day 4

Find yourself in the eternal Cape Fold Mountains, with a wine-filled day ahead. Between these looming mountains lies the fertile region of the Cape Winelands. In recent years, the fruits of Stellenbosch and Paarl vines have brought forth many award-winning chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and cabernet sauvignon varietals.

The Cape’s time-honoured wine tradition dates back to the 17th century. Your guide will take you to the best vineyards and wine farms, where you will enjoy an excellent light lunch paired with your glass. Your guide may also take you to the Franschhoek Valley, where the French Huguenots settled in the 18th century and brought their proud traditions to the Cape.

Day 5

Enjoy your last morning at the Queen Victoria Hotel. At the time of checkout (11:00 am), our driver will transfer you to your airport or your next destination.
