Cape Town is every visitor’s holiday dream come true, and we expose you to some of its highlights. Washed by the warm, Mozambique and the cold Benguela currents, the Cape Peninsulas’ spectacular inward-curving coastline, bays, and sandy, white beaches are incredibly scenic. Table Mountain is positioned at the centre of a dramatic amphitheatre, stretching from Devil’s Peak in the east to Lions Head in the west, amplifying its splendour.

Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Meet and greet anywhere in Cape Town or pick up at the airport and transfer to the Queen Victoria Hotel ( if this is early in the day then we will schedule some of the listed activities today after consulting with the guests)

Accommodation The Queen Victoria Hotel Cape Town, Bed and Breakfast

Day 2

Cape Town Day Tour. This tour shall be scheduled for the morning after breakfast and besides orienting you around the central city area and visiting one or two historic locations including the Castle of Good Hope the Slave Lodge which together give a quick history of Cape Town and the Dutch mercantile empire of the 17th and 18th centuries,  you will make your first attempt to go up to the top of Table Mountain. There is a cableway to the top with a revolving cable car going to the top of the almost 4000 feet high “table”. There are magnificent views of the city, the bay, and the surrounding countryside. It is as expected quite flat with nicely laid out walkways. The vegetation is all from the Cape Floral Kingdom one of the 5 unique plant kingdoms in the world and the smallest. As it is early spring there will be flowers.

However, it must be remembered this ascent is weather dependent and we will see some alternative locations, perhaps the Kirstenbosch Gardens ( one of the world’s most beautiful botanical gardens set on the slopes of the mountain) if the mountain is wearing its “tablecloth” of cloud or if there are high winds the cableway closes. In this case, this activity will be pushed on to one of your other days in Cape Town.

Accommodation The Queen Victoria Hotel Cape Town, Bed and Breakfast. Light lunch on tour.

Day 3

Cape Town Peninsula Tour. Your tour guide will collect you from your hotel in the morning for this tour which exposes you to the stunning views of sea and mountains for which the Cape of Good Hope is world-renowned. First, there is the Cape of Good Hope the furthest point south on the peninsula and then the centrepiece is Cape Point the mythical meeting place of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and the point from which you can look into the distance from the lighthouse towards the South Pole with nothing in between but the sea. We catch the funicular railway to get up to it. But first, to get there we enter Cape Point Nature Reserve which is one of our national parks with many species of antelope, zebra, ostrich and many other animals.

On your way there, you will drive over Chapmans Peak, one of the world’s most beautiful stretches of coastline, and visit the picturesque fishing harbour of Hout Bay at its foot. Take the boat from there to Seal Island to see the unbelievable concentration of Cape Fur Seals. You will, of course, stop somewhere, your guide will decide, for a fresh fish lunch (if you prefer).

On your way back, you will go through Simonstown a picturesque naval port where the South African navy is docked, you will visit Boulders Beach with its famous African Penguins and before returning to Cape Town for the evening at your leisure.

Accommodation The Queen Victoria Hotel Cape Town, Bed, and Breakfast. Light lunch on tour.

Day 4

The city of Cape Town is surrounded by the different ranges of the Cape Fold Mountains. In the valleys between and on the slopes and foothills of these mountains lies the beautiful and fertile region of the Cape Winelands. Paarl, regarded by many as the heartland of the South African wine industry, together with Stellenbosch, is the home of brandies, fortified wines, and natural wines. In recent years the fruits of its vines have brought forth many award-winning chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and cabernet sauvignon varietals. The time honoured wine tradition of the Cape dates back to the 17th century and South Africa is one of the oldest “New World” wine producers. Your guide will take you to four or five of the best vineyards or wine farms and you will have an excellent light lunch at one of them. If time allows or with adjustment the guide can take you to Franschhoek valley where the French Huguenots settled in the 18th century and brought their proud traditions to the Cape.
