Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Welcome to Mfuwe, the gateway to South Luangwa National Park! Upon arrival at Mfuwe Airport, you will meet your Mmilo Tours guide and be transferred to Track and Trail River Camp, your home for the next three nights. Nestled on the banks of the Luangwa River, this intimate safari camp offers authentic and immersive experiences, just a 5-minute drive from the park’s main entrance.

Depending on your flight arrival time, you will receive lunch upon arrival. Later in the afternoon, set out on a thrilling late afternoon/night safari into South Luangwa National Park. Enjoy a breathtaking Luangwa sunset, sipping sundowners with snacks as the sky transforms into a canvas of warm hues. Hear the cry of the Fish Eagle, the conversational grunting of the hippos and the occasional yapping of a hyena.

As night falls, your safari continues using spotlights to track nocturnal predators, including hyenas, mongooses, owls, civets, bush babies, and genets. Your expert spotter and safari guide will help uncover the fascinating world of the African wilderness at night.

End the evening with a delicious three-course dinner at the lodge, sharing stories of your first incredible game drive.

Day 2

Wake up before sunrise to the sounds of the bush coming to life. Enjoy a light breakfast before heading out on a morning game drive, setting off at 6:00 AM in an open safari vehicle with your experienced ranger.

As the sun rises, witness South Luangwa awaken—elephants crossing the Luangwa River, herds of buffalo grazing, a leopard on the prowl and an array of vibrant birdlife filling the skies. The concentration of wildlife around the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons is among the most intense in Africa, offering incredible sightings throughout the drive.

3-Day Leisurely Pilanesberg Safari from Johannesburg or Pretoria

Return to the lodge mid-morning and spend the day at leisure—unwind in your private room, take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, or simply enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Lunch is a relaxed, informal affair, followed by an afternoon at your own pace.
Later in the day, meet for afternoon tea before embarking on your late afternoon/evening safari. As the day cools, animals become more active, offering another opportunity to spot the Big Five. Pause for sundowners deep in the bush, before continuing the safari into the night, using spotlights to track elusive nocturnal creatures.
Return to the lodge for a three-course dinner, reflecting on another spectacular day in South Luangwa.

Day 3

Same itinerary as day 2.

Day 4

Begin your final day with one last morning safari or a relaxed breakfast at the lodge Afterwards, you will be transferred to Mfuwe Airport for your onward journey, leaving you with unforgettable memories of South Luangwa’s incredible wildlife and landscapes.
