Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Your adventure begins with a 07:00 AM departure from Johannesburg International Airport on a shared minibus shuttle to Nelspruit, where your driver will meet you for a transfer to Pestana Kruger Lodge. Upon arrival, check into your Premium River-View Room, featuring an en-suite bathroom and a private balcony overlooking the Crocodile River and Kruger National Park. Take time to relax and soak in the views, as wildlife may be roaming nearby.

Spend the afternoon at your leisure — perhaps enjoy lunch at the restaurant (optional), take a refreshing dip in the pool, or explore the beautifully maintained grounds.

At 3:30 PM (depending on the season), your Mmilo tour guide will collect you for your sunset safari drive into Kruger National Park. As the sun dips below the horizon, experience the sights, sounds, and scents of the African bush, spotting nocturnal wildlife emerging for the night. After your game drive, return to the lodge for a delicious dinner and unwind on the open deck under the African stars. End the evening with a late swim, a drink from the bar, or simply share your safari moments with friends and family using the lodge’s WiFi.

Day 2

Rise before dawn and set out on a sunrise safari with a Kruger park ranger. This magical time of day is when the bush awakens, and the air fills with the calls of wildlife, including the iconic cry of the African fish eagle. Keep an eye out for elephant herds with their young, a prowling lion on the hunt, towering giraffes, and buffalo grazing in the morning light. Every turn in the park brings the thrill of new encounters.

After your morning game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast, then spend the midday hours at leisure. Unwind at the pool, take in the stunning river views from your private balcony, or relax on the restaurant deck overlooking the Crocodile River. Lunch is available on the deck (at your own cost), with the chance to spot hippos, crocodiles, and elephants nearby.

Later in the afternoon, set off on another open-vehicle sunset safari, exploring Big Five territory as the bush transitions from day to night. Return to the lodge after an exhilarating safari and enjoy dinner under the stars.

Day 3

After an early breakfast, your guide will collect you for a full-day Panorama Route tour, one of South Africa’s most breathtaking scenic drives.

This rugged route follows the edge of the Highveld escarpment, separating the temperate highlands from the warmer lowlands of Kruger National Park. The jagged cliffs provide incredible panoramic views, with stops at God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the Three Rondavels viewpoint overlooking the Blyde River Canyon — one of the deepest river canyons in the world.

Throughout the journey, experience contrasting climates, from Kruger’s hot and dry terrain to the cool, misty conditions of the escarpment. The area is also famous for its waterfalls and unique geological formations, where the Blyde (Happy) River meets the Treur (Sorrowful) River, creating a series of natural rock pools known as Bourke’s Luck Potholes.

For lunch, savour a local speciality — savoury or sweet pancakes — a beloved dish in the region. By 6:00 PM, return to Pestana Kruger Lodge for an evening of relaxation.

Day 4

Start the day before dawn with one last early morning game drive in Kruger National Park. For those seeking a different experience, you may swap a morning safari for a guided bush walk—an opportunity to connect with the wild on foot, focusing on tracks, signs, and smaller wildlife (must be arranged in advance).

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Johannesburg, with an estimated arrival between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM.

If continuing to Cape Town, there is a convenient midday flight from a local airport — we can arrange a transfer and refund/discount the shuttle cost. Alternatively, for those short on time, a direct flight option to and from Kruger is available at a small additional cost — please enquire for pricing.
