Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure at 07:00 AM from Johannesburg (flight or hotel at your own cost). Travel through the Highveld’s agricultural and mining regions before ascending to the Mpumalanga escarpment.

Explore the breathtaking Panorama Route, stopping at God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the Three Rondavels viewpoint overlooking the Blyde River Canyon. This iconic route winds through the rugged Drakensberg mountain range, offering spectacular views of the Lowveld plains stretching nearly 1,000 meters below.

By late afternoon, arrive at your hotel on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment, where you can soak in the breathtaking scenery. Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 2

Depart from Angels View at dawn, heading to the nearest entry gate of Kruger National Park. Enjoy a breakfast pack from Angels View as you enter one of the world’s most renowned wildlife reserves. Spend the morning on safari, spotting Africa’s iconic wildlife, before arriving at Lukimbi Safari Lodge in time for lunch.

Lukimbi is on a private concession within Kruger, bordered by three major river systems, creating diverse habitats and abundant wildlife.

Later in the afternoon, set out on your first exhilarating open-vehicle game drive. Enjoy sundowners deep in the bush as dusk falls before continuing the safari with spotlights to track nocturnal wildlife. Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner, either in the restaurant or, if the weather permits, beneath the stars around a crackling fire in the boma.

Day 3

An early wake-up call marks the start of another thrilling day in the African bush. Begin with a steaming cup of coffee and homemade rusk, before setting off on a morning game drive in Big Five territory. Led by an expert ranger, explore Kruger’s vast landscapes, where you may encounter lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo. Breakfast awaits upon your return to the lodge.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure — join your ranger for a guided bush walk, unwind in your luxurious suite, or relax by the pool. Lunch on the deck offers panoramic views of the surrounding bushveld.

Refresh with afternoon tea before setting off on a late afternoon safari. Enjoy sundowners in the bush as the sun sets, followed by a spotlight safari to track nocturnal predators. End the day with dinner at the lodge or under the stars.

Day 4

Wake up before sunrise and start your final day with coffee and rusks before heading out on your last open-vehicle game drive. With off-road driving permitted, your ranger will take you closer to the Big Five while ensuring ethical and responsible wildlife viewing.

After a final safari breakfast, transfer from Lukimbi Safari Lodge to Johannesburg, with a light lunch en route. Drop-off is available at O.R. Tambo International Airport or another preferred location.

This tour can also begin in Cape Town, requiring a flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) in Nelspruit. An overnight stay in Nelspruit is necessary before the tour begins. Flights and accommodation in Nelspruit are not included in the package — please enquire for details.
