Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Begin your journey with a flight from Cape Town Airport to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to Pestana Kruger Lodge, located along the Crocodile River. This scenic river draws a variety of wildlife, making the region famous for exceptional game viewing. The southern part of Kruger National Park is particularly renowned for its rich concentration of animals.

Kruger is home to an extraordinary diversity of species, including 336 types of trees, 49 fish species, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 bird species, and 147 types of mammals. Recognised worldwide, Kruger Park offers one of Africa’s top wildlife experiences. In the late afternoon, you’ll embark on your first thrilling game drive in an open safari vehicle, guided by an experienced Kruger field expert. Upon returning, enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge’s restaurant.

Please note: Airfares and airport taxes are subject to change and may fluctuate.

Day 2

An early morning wake-up marks the beginning of an exhilarating day in Big 5 country. This is a magical time, as the Kruger stirs to life with the rising sun. Being in prime Big 5 territory means you may encounter lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and many of Africa’s most iconic animals during your safari. The excitement builds as you begin to spot some of the incredible wildlife that calls this renowned reserve home—thrilling moments await at every turn.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Unwind by the pool, soak up the scenery from your Premium River View room balcony, or relax on the restaurant’s deck. Lunch is available on the deck at Pestana Kruger Lodge, offering stunning views over the Crocodile River and into Kruger Park (at your own expense).

Day 3

After breakfast, you’ll be collected for a full-day exploration of the Panorama Route. Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most scenic and sought-after destinations, the Panorama Route and the Blyde River Canyon boast dramatic landscapes. In this northeastern section of the Great Escarpment, the high inland plateau plunges steeply, revealing breathtaking views across the Lowveld plains, which lie up to a thousand metres below.

The Panorama Route offers not only sweeping vistas but also extraordinary natural landmarks—waterfalls, canyons, deep gorges, and fascinating rock formations shaped by rivers over time. The route leads to the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, the third-largest canyon in the world. Today’s highlights include the famous viewpoints at the Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and God’s Window. A light lunch is included during the tour.

This evening, enjoy dinner at the restaurant back at Pestana Kruger Lodge.

Day 4

Another early wake-up call marks the beginning of your final adventure in Big 5 country. Your Kruger Park safari guide will meet you at the reception of Pestana Kruger Lodge for an early morning game drive. Setting off in an open safari vehicle, you’ll venture into the African bush once more. Your experienced guide will provide fascinating insights into the landscape and wildlife, offering detailed explanations of animal behaviours.

Early morning is one of the best times to spot big cats before they retreat into the shade for the day, so keep an eye out for lions, leopards, and other elusive predators. This is your last chance to encounter Kruger’s incredible wildlife—including elephants, giraffes, hippos, Cape buffaloes, crocodiles, various antelope species, and an abundance of birdlife.

After breakfast back at the lodge, you’ll be transferred to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit for your return flight to Cape Town.
