…Patrick organized the trip brilliantly. He was very keen to listen to our wishes and last-minute changes. Our daughter caught Corona the day before departure, but Patrick rearranged all the accommodations free of charge. As a result, we postponed the trip, and on the second attempt, everything went smoothly.

Anton was there to pick us up at the airport and took terrific care of us. His car is perfectly maintained and clean, and he is very knowledgeable. He took us through the Panorama route and entertained us with a lot of information on the culture and economy of South Africa. He always ensured we were on time and could enjoy each sight the best way possible.

First up, a big shout-out to Jamie McCabe for the very responsive email exchange right from the start. Incredibly patient while helping me with my travel plans and making really good suggestions along the way. And on the day of travel, kudos to my guide Anton Joubert for showing up on time and things started off brightly from there. Love his energy and passion for sharing, we learnt a great deal about the people and culture throughout the drive on the Panorama Route. We had an amazing time. These guys are rockstars, thank you for everything!

Patrick organised for my daughter (10) and myself in May 2015 our 12 days South Africa trip including lion walk, elephant sanctuary, panorama route, mohololo, rafting, swaziland, and the kruger. Patrick knows his country so well and has chosen fantastic accommodations everywhere. We spent half of the trip together and I highly enjoyed his gentleman company , having a lot of fun, then we spent a good part alone in the kruger. I knew Patrick from a first short trip to the pilanesberg, which he organised for me when I came for business to SA. I can only highly recommend Patrick and Mmilotours. Everything went perfect.

    FAQs

What’s included in my Panorama Route tour price?

Your rate covers all accommodation, most meals, park and entrance fees along the Panorama Route, expert local guides, shared transfers between towns, lookouts and activities, and any specified extras (e.g. boat cruises or sanctuary visits).

What should I pack for a Panorama Route Tour?

Pack lightweight, neutral-coloured layers, long sleeves, and trousers for sun and mosquito protection, plus a warm fleece for mist-belt mornings, alongside sturdy walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, UV sunglasses, and a packable rain jacket. Bring a refillable water bottle, snacks, binoculars, a torch or head-torch and a small daypack for your essentials. Don’t forget your camera!

How physically demanding are the Panorama Route walks?

Most walks to waterfalls and potholes are easy to moderate (20–45 minutes on mostly flat or gently sloping trails). We always recommend sturdy shoes and a moderate fitness level; no technical gear is required.

Are children welcome on a Panorama Route Tour?

Mmilo’s Panorama Route tours are family-friendly: children aged six and above can join most packages, while those under twelve travel at a reduced “child sharing” rate when accompanied by an adult. Toddlers (aged 0–2) often travel free or at minimal cost on the standalone two-day tour when sharing their parents’ room or seat. Always check the “Tour Notes” on your chosen itinerary for any specific age requirements or child-rate details.

Are meals provided on Panorama Route tours?

Yes – breakfast and lunch are included daily. Dinners are either at your lodge or at vetted local restaurants, with a chance to sample regional specialities.

What’s the best time of year for a Panorama Route Tour?

No matter the season, there is always something to enjoy. Winter (May–September) brings crisp, clear skies and cooler temperatures, which are ideal for unobstructed vistas. Summer (Oct–Apr) offers lush greenery and dramatic thunderstorm skies, along with the opportunity to swim beneath waterfalls.

Can I customise my itinerary or add extras?

Many guests opt for spa treatments, helicopter rides over the Panorama, or private guiding. Simply let us know your interests and budget, and we’ll create a bespoke quote for you.

Is the Panorama Route worth it?

The Panorama Route is an unmissable South African drive, from mist-shrouded God’s Window and the vertiginous Blyde River Canyon to easy waterfall strolls at Lisbon, Mac-Mac and Berlin Falls, and ancient rock sculptures at Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels. With well-maintained roads, short transfers, family-friendly trails, charming towns serving local treats and the option to bolt it onto a Kruger safari or savour it as a standalone escape, it’s a seamless, unforgettable adventure.

Can I combine a Panorama Route tour with a Kruger National Park Safari?

Yes, several of our packages bundle Panorama Route highlights with Kruger National Park safaris, including transport, accommodation and game-drive inclusions for a seamless multi-day adventure.
