Pilanesberg Sunrise Safari Day Trip for groups of 4 or more adults.
Enjoy a full-day safari from Johannesburg or Pretoria to Pilanesberg Game Reserve, where Africa’s Big Five roam free. You’ll be picked up from your address or the airport and driven to the reserve for an immersive 6-hour safari experience.
The tour is formatted differently to the Individuals/Small groups version.
We use various sized minibuses and coaches to get you and your group to and from the Pilanesberg Reserve from the Johannesburg/Pretoria region. The tour includes a 3-hour open safari vehicle drive, offering up-close encounters with iconic wildlife. You’ll also spend 2-3 hours in the coach/minibus visiting safe viewing hides at various dams and secure spots, where you can observe animals from behind cover in their natural habitat and coming to drink or to prey on same. This gets you out and walking to these spots with your guide in the fresh air of this beautiful pristine location. A 1-hour+ lunch break at a lodge’s open terrace overlooking a waterhole allows one to relax while watching wildlife too. This all adds up to 8-9 hours in the reserve altogether. But time can be adjusted to suit your schedule, ensuring a seamless and unforgettable safari experience.
Timing is crucial
Sunrise, which ranges from 4:30 am in summer to 6:30am in winter, is the best time to possibly see the “Big Cats” and other predators, as dawn and dusk are their prime hunting times. Return to your hotel or be dropped off at the airport 11 hours after pick up. It’s a longish day but being in the Pilanesberg at dawn makes it all worthwhile.
Mmilo Tours Game Drive
We will maximize your experience. In all, you will spend between 8-9 hours in the reserve, giving you the maximum time possible to spot the wildlife that freely roams this reserve and immerse in the atmosphere of this thoroughly wild place.
Light lunch is included
A light lunch is enjoyed at one of the lodges inside the Pilanesberg National Park, usually at Bakubung Bush Lodge, depending on where the safari and sightings take us. Bakubung Lodge’s dining terrace is unique, as besides its excellent food, it overlooks a waterhole, where you can view the animals and birds that gather here.
