Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Leave Johannesburg via a scenic route for the province of Mpumalanga, which means “Rising Sun” in the various Nguni languages ( Zulu, Xhosa, Swazi and others). Arrive at your Four Star Lodge in the warm, subtropical area of the world famous Kruger National Park. Kwa Madwala has arguably the most dramatic location of any game lodge. Manyatta Rock where you will be staying is a "koppie" or hill strewn with what appear to be huge gigantic boulders and the chalets are disguised as the same in between them and the dense bush. Amongst all of this non predatory animals roam. Monkeys and klipspringer antelope are to be found on the doorstep of your chalet and often on your roof! Various exotic birds perch on the tropical bush around your private veranda.

If you have arrived in time you will have lunch on the beautiful open dining deck which overlooks all of this and the rest of this exquisite small private reserve. If you have arrived in time you may go for the optional activity of interacting with the giant resident elephants an experience not to be missed. Later that afternoon, you will depart for a sunset safari with your skilled game ranger in one of the special open game viewing vehicles. Take in the characteristic buzz of the African bush, the wide, open star studded sky and the sights and sounds and smells of African nature!  Return to the lodge in the early evening to another of the chef's delights. Once or twice a week for location variety dinner is in the "boma" beneath one of the towering giant rocks, next to the swimming pool with blazing campfire and tables lit by lanterns and torches to add atmosphere to the starlit African night.
