Idube is situated in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, adjoining the Kruger National Park in South Africa. This world-renowned reserve is known for conservation efforts, particularly in protecting rhino. The reserve is also extending its efforts to the community on the borders of the Sabi Sands, Mpumalanga, in uplifting and improving their conditions, as well as their understanding of the value of the reserve for the future. Idube is proud to be part of these good works. Idube Game Reserve traverses approximately 10 000 hectares of wildlife area and is home to the big 5 animals, as well as a large variety of other animals. A great draw card for guests is the leopards, which are seen frequently. It is part of the Greater Kruger National Park but day visitors are not allowed in this private section.

The lodge has recently been refurbished and the gazebo was added as a great chill out area for relaxing and enjoying the view on 3 sides. All bedrooms now have Wi-Fi, as do the entertainment areas.

Because the world-famous Panorama Route lies on the road route from Johannesburg Airport we can include an extra night in your package for road transfer via this route to the lodges. We can substitute this if you have the day to spare with extra charge. Then you will get to see Long Tom Mountain Pass, God's Window, Mac Mac and Lisbon Waterfalls, Pilgrims Rest, Bourkes Luck Potholes and Blyde River Canyon the 3rd deepest river canyon in the world (deepest "green" canyon) before getting to the lodges. You can then of course fly back be taken back via another route or if pushed for time we can take you to a local airport for direct flights to Johannesburg, Victoria Falls or Cape Town.

Itinerary for This Tour

Day 1

Pick up from airport or hotel around 8 or 9am in Johannesburg for road transfer to Kruger Park area by private vehicle with qualified guide. We will follow a scenic route to the Kruger to see some of the wonderful views on the way down the escarpment to Idube Lodge in the Kruger National Park getting there in time for a late lunch. But if you wish we can pick you up very early (even 5.00am) and traverse part of the famous Panorama Route any area of deep canyons, waterfalls, forests and unusual geological formations similar to the Grand Canyon in the US but "green" because of higher rainfall than the Grand Canyon

On route to the Kruger National Park area you pass from the temperate "highveld" grasslands that rise to over 2000 metres to the hotter savannah at lower altitudes below 300 metres. Once you start to descend from the high plateau you will start to see orange groves, avocado, banana and sugar cane plantations and subtropical forests and the atmosphere becomes more warm and humid. There is lots to see and your guide will comment and answer your questions about the different landscapes and the history and current situation.

Day 2

Sunrise and sunset game drives in Idube's private concession area of the Kruger National Park. You can request a nature walk too with an armed ranger in the wildlife area. There is a swimming pool while away some of the hours and of course animals are often visible around the lodge.

Day 3

After your last sunrise game drive and breakfast depart Idube Game Lodge and the park at about 11.00am taking another scenic route back to Johannesburg. We can of course extend your tour with optional trips to Mozambique beaches within easy reach, the Independent country of "Eswatini" (formerly Swaziland) also closeby. You might also like to take an otional visit Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre  where animals are brought back to health after injuries suffered due to human activities. Here you can get up closer to some creatures that you could only hope to see from a distance such as Bateleur and Marshal Eagles, vultures, various big cats ans some of the smaller ones, aardvarks, aardwolves, honey badgers, reptiles and much more.
